Since a few days after I started taking Lisinopril, I began having asthma like trouble breathing. I have had asthma in the past and also the cold weather started so there were less windows open so it could have been because of other things. Otherwise it has worked great for me and I have only a minor problem with coughing.

Has anyone else had such a problem? Thanks.

From what I understand, I don't believe there are any side effects related to trouble breathing. I do know that if you are experience a dry cough which isn't related to anything else such as a cold or anything then this could potentially be due to lisinopril. However, this side effect is rare. IF you believe that taking lisinopril is causing you to have difficult breathing then you should be discussing this problem with your dr. right away. However, colder weathers are also the time where asthma exacerbations occur most, since cold temperatures can trigger asthma related symptoms. Hope this somewhat helps?

This unfortunately is not true. I had the same symptoms as the OP, and I have never had asthma in my life. I also had the deep cough prevelant with Lisinopril. I took myself off it because I could barely breathe. After a couple days, the symptoms had cleared completely. My doctor subsequently put me on Coreg and Cozaar, and I have had no problems since.

Indeed I have. Never had asthma or any other breathing problems at all, but I was pretty much gulping for air. I researched the side-effects on a web site that for some reason is being censored here(just think of the best known medical related web site), and found that this particular problem is one of the known side effects. I took myself of the med completely because of the problems. I had just moved to Reno, and didn't have a PCP yet, so no one to discuss it with. My new doctor however concurred with my decision, and put me on Coreg and Cozaar. I have zero problems since that time.
