I was just prescribed Geodon by my doctor. I took it once (40 mg) and slept all day long. I'm afraid if I take it again, I'll sleep through work and everything else. I'm going to try to take it again tonight and see what happens.

I'm not schizophrenic, and I don't think I'm psychotic. My diagnosis is bipolar with mixed episodes (I'm usually severely depressed.) Has anyone had any experiences with Ziprasidone improving their depression?

I know it's been a couple months since you posted (I just joined today) but I wanted to tell you that I was put on Geodon for depression five years ago, and it has improved my condition a lot. I'm not schizophrenic either, nor psychotic; in my research, I've found that Geodon and other drugs classed as "atypical anti-psychotics" are now often used to treat symptoms of depression or bipolar.
At any rate, when I first started Geodon, I was on the psych ward, and I took it in the morning and slept through breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the next day's breakfast! However, the extreme drowsiness does wear off eventually. Now I have virtually no side effects from it.
Sorry if this is too late to help you, as you may have already decided to not take it anymore ...

I am in the same boat. I was prescribed Geodon for "unresolved depression". I am not psychotic or schizophrenic either, but Geodon has worked wonders for me. It didn't cause drowsiness in me, but I did get a great night's sleep for several months. Now I miss that great night's sleep as my body has adjusted to the medication now after about a year. I am now seeing a sleep specialist trying to find a drug that will help me sleep at night. We have been through so many meds already. I am close to losing hope again. The lack of sleep is starting to affect my depression and anxiety symptoms, and I'm in a low right now.
