First of all let me give a little background about myself. My entire life I have been bi-polar, even as a small child. As I came into my teens things got worse and I became a cutter and had my first signs of depression, I also developed a strange OCD of counting all the letters in phrases I heard or said. Needless to say I was put on a ton of drugs that had side effects so horrible I couldn't tell if they were helping or not. At one point in time I even attempted to kill myself. It has been years since I've been on any medications as I had given up on mood-stabilizers and anti-depressants. But, on a whim I decided to see a psychiatrist again and he prescribed me 10mg of lexapro along with 40 mg of geodon a day and what a difference it has made! I no longer have any symptoms of depression whatsoever, I'm not tired anymore, I'm not on-edge and ready to attack the next person that does something I don't like.. I feel great! The first few days of Geodon were rough, I will admit, it made me feel dizzy and somewhat high, but the effect has worn off now that I take it at night and my only side effects are slight insomnia and withdrawal symptoms when I forget to take it. I strongly recommend this drug to people who have given up like I had.

I have been in the mental health circle for around 20 years. and nothing and I mean nothing has helped long enough to keep me going...This is my approx. seventh doctor and after trying prozac, lamictal, xanax, trileptal and cymbalta. I had to be taken off them, either i gained too much weight, and I am diabetic so that doesn't help including the lack of sex drive. So, finally she has offered me geodon or abilify. She claimed the geodon has the fewer side effects and there should be no weight gain...I am so scared because when I was tapered off the cymbalta, I almost lost it....It was awful and now I am afraid of these medications. But, I am going down the drain day by day...I suffer from bio polar...and boy..its getting bad, I am always so angry....If you have any suggestions or experiences...good or bad please write me, I need you.... [Eek!]
