Has anyone else been proscribed doxepin for Narcolepsy? My doc told me that when you have narcolepsy you go right into REM sleep and stay there for most of the time you are asleep. Therefore you don't go through all the sleep stages and get a full rest. This is why you are always tired. He told me that this medication will help me go through all the sleep stages and not just stay in REM sleep. Has anyone else been told this? I have been taking this for about three months now and don't really see much of a difference except when I don't take it I yahn all day long. I am not on anything else for narcolepsy but would be interested in what else you all are taking. Thanks Rebecca

Heard of Doxepin, but never in reference to narcolepsy. I take phentermine and have took it for 10 years. Just recently my nurologist discovered that it works well with patients with narcolepsyeven on the ones that had given up hope of ever finding anything to help them. The only problem is that it is labeled a DIET PILL. Well to let you know I couldn't hurt to lose 10 to 20 lbs. If I didnt take it I would have problems getting off the couch.
