I note that your post is a month old - but I thought I'd reply just in case you check back.

My story in brief- I've suffered from ME/Chronic fatigue syndrome for abour 6 years. I am now pretty deeply depressed, though no one knows if its part of the ME of wether its a reaction to the ME. In my opinon, who cares??!!

I've listened to people tell me not to take anti-depressants. From concerned friends to alternative health practictioners to healers - everyone will give you reasons not to take the tablets.

But here's my point - only you can know the answer. I can only guess that like my situation, most of the people telling you not to take them haven't suffered a "proper" depression. In my case, they don't understand the depths I fall into.

I have decided to try the tablets to see if I get some relief. If I do, then great, if I don't then I don't think I will have lost anything. Better that I try and know the answer. Can you imagin how I'll feel another 6 years down the line if I then try the tablets and they lift the depression? It'll have been another 6 years lost!

Hope this helps in some way.

good advice bamman you sound like your experienced to anna_marie You know yourself and your body better than anyone else. Don't fall into a "deep" depression". My mother did and it really took a toll on her. Luckily she went to a doctor and got on wellbutrin. It was the best thing that happened to her. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
