My boyfriend was prescribed this medicine, about 2 yrs ago. he didnt suffer from depression but had high blood pressure. The dr. prescribed flux and triamt. After two yrs of taking the fluoxetine, he stopped. His prescription had run out and he just never refilled it. But since then he has suffered from stomach problems. I was wondering if this may have anything to do with his stopping the meds without weaning himself off. He went to the dr because his stomach hurt so bad and he didnt even do any tests he just wrote out another prescription for the Flux and said, I have a feeling in a month or two you'll want to go back on it. Does anyone know how this affects you if you stop taking it abruptly? His personality is the same as he really didnt have a depression problem to begin with. thanks for any help

you dont have to tell me but how long ago did he stop his flux. The gps are useless at advising us what to do when we want off. they wantus to stay on... ive been on flux for twelve weeks. i'm starting to decrease my dose by 10% every 7 to 10 days which i have researched into being the most safe and effective way. also suffering with bad stomach aches but have done since being on the drug. debbie.

Hi Debbie, He stopped it about a month ago, about the same time is when the stomach problems started. I know, he wasnt depressed never even said he was, but the Dr. figured his blood pressure was high because he had some stress in his life so he put him on these. He wasnt intending on stopping he just ran out and was too busy to fill the prescription, then decided, he really didnt need them in the first place. Now I'm wondering if these stomach problems are a sign of withdrawl. I just hope its not something serious the Dr is just overlooking because he thinks its related to him stopping the meds.I wish he would have at least done a blood test, xray or something. The dr. was kind of upset he had stopped taking them and wrote out another prescription in case he changes his mind. Thats good, your doing it the right way. I think Dr.s are too quick to prescribe such medicines without figuring out who really needs them.

I would give Aloe Vera juice ago for the stomach pains. The prozac can give you stomach ulcers and aloe is brilliant for ulcers and cleaning out the digestive tract. It will also put vitamins and minerals back into the system and help you absorb more nutrition from your food. Find a good quality product. I drink Goldleaf Aloe vera juice made from the whole leaf aloe plant. To begin with take 60ml per day on empty stomach for two months and then you can decrease to a maintenence dose of about 30ml. Give it a try its worth it. regards Dominique
