I have joint pain that my Dr. prescribed Indomethacin 50mg 3 times a day for. It makes me tense and shakey with a background headache and doesn't seem to do a very good job at fixing the pain. Is this a normal reaction? I've only been taking it for 4 or 5 days so far. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I just recently began using Indomethacin 25mg,1-2 caps up to 3x daily for knee pain and swelling. It seems to work. The pain is tolerable now, and the swelling has diminished (depending on how active I am), but it does make me drowsy. Does anyone know if it's habit forming? Does it contain codeine?
Peace to all.

I was recently prescribed Indomethacin 75mg 2 times a day for tenderness and inflamation of the joints in my chest cavity area. I have been on it for several days . The second day I took it I felt loopy and a little disoriented. I also suffered from a headache. As far as the tenderness and shortness of breath in my chest , that has diminished.

I was concerned about its habit-forming potential as well, but my doctor assured me that it was not addictive at all. I take indomethacin 25mg-50mg 4x daily, as needed, for occasional gout and tendonitis attacks.

When I first start a prescription, it takes perhaps a day for me to remember what they're like, especially if I take them without food. With food, they're no worse than, say, 200mg of ibuprofen.

Once last year, I got a prescription for an increased dosage (50mg-100mg) that made me a bit loopy for a few days since I wasn't used to it. But it did work and I did remember to take food with that, lest I succumb to the nap it wanted me to take.

If you have any questions or concerns about your medication, always consult your doctor. These forums, while slow, may also help.
