I have been trying several sleep medications and they haven't been working. One "side effect" at least this is what I'm calling it, is sleep-eating. It's when you wake up during the middle of the night with a huge appetite; get something to eat; and eat it in bed while you are trying to fall back to sleep (with head on the pillow and light off). I tried Remeron recently and this is exactly what happened. One night I ate nearly a box of Wheat Thins and another about a box of cookies. Needless to say I asked to get off the Remeron. Has this every happened to anyone else?

Hi Kira, YES!!!! This happened to me when I was on Trazadone. I got Really hungry about 20 minutes after I took it. I could barely walk because I was so tired, but I always had to eat! Needless to say, I got off the medication as soon as I could. Sleep eating will really put on the lbs. sure doesn't help when you are fighting depression. I'm not sure about Remeron. I was on that about 8 years ago. I don't recall sleep eating with that medication. I lost a ton of weight that year due to my divorce. I was drinking allot then as well... Good luck Kimberly
