Hi. My log-in name says it all. Feeling better, much better. I have been taking paroxetine 30mg for just over two years now & don't know when or if i want to stop taking this medication. I recently tried cutting down to 20mg but didn't feel comfortable, so went back on 30mg. The side-effects are worth the hassle- weight gain, sweats, mood swings(often aggressive) mild headaches & loss of libido. I have just completed my first year in full time work since 1996 as i have been part time ever since so you can see the major progress i have made ! Anxiety had been building up from my mid teens until i had a breakdown at 21. I am 36 now. Tranquilisers & alcohol took control of my life for twelve years until i started on this wonderful drug. But now i have recovered & want to regain my libido again. Can anyone tell me their symptons with stopping Paroxetine & their mental health after & if they lead happy(& normal) lives ?, as this is a fairly new drug.

Hi i was put on 20mg of paroxetine in July 01 and am still trying to come off them today. After a week of taking them i started to feel great they were amazing but after a year on them i decided to come off them and deal with my problems myself. Thats when the problems really started. Within 3 days without them i was feeling sick and disorrientated. I had no idea what was causing this so went to see my GP who had no idea what was happening either. 10 days later i couldnt even get out of bed, if i moved my head slightly i would want to throw up and the rage i felt was unbelivable. Anyway, 6 yrs later and still on 20mg per day i decided to try for the 4th time to stop. I have seen 4 GPs in my surgery and none of them have helped, they wont even recognise my symptoms as withdrawal from paroxetine. Then i decided to search the net and and found out all sorts but mainly that Paroxetine has a short half life and that ssri discontinuation syndrome does exist. I suggest you read up well on this before you consider stopping and maybe consider swapping to one with a longer half life while your weaning off Paroxetion (although this could take months) im 3 weeks into my weaning but i think its gunna take a lot longer. As for the sex life, well mines been practically non existent since day one of this awfull drug but heres hoping
