Nurses initiated patient on a Nicardipine infusion at 5mg/hr which dropped patients MAPs to 91.
Infusion was decreased to 2.5mg/Hr and eventually to 1.5mg/hr to keep maps between 90-110.

Questions:
1. Are doses under 3mg/hr effective?

2. Our pharmacist states ”the infusion should be stopped if 5mg/hr drops BP” - Is he right?

Thanks!
